Dottie and Xander, both 4 years old, are a bonded pair of pugs who balance each other beautifully. Dottie brings the fun and adventure, while Xander brings the cuddles and calm. They rely on each other for companionship and comfort and will be adopted together.
**Dottie** is a fun-loving, energetic, and curious pug who loves toys, playing with Xander, and exploring on walks. She can be anxious when Xander isn't nearby, but once she settles in and feels comfortable, her sweet and playful personality really shines.
Dottie loves her people with her whole heart and is generous with her kisses. She also has a very important self-appointed job: finding things on the floor and delivering them to her person! You'll want to keep an eye on what's actually a toy and what Dottie has simply decided should be one. Her greatest talent, though, may be making everyone she meets smile.
Dottie is undergoing a dental procedure to remove significant tartar from her teeth. She also has pinched nostrils that may require monitoring, although her veterinarian has not observed any breathing difficulties.
Xander is the calmer half of this adorable duo. He's mellow, affectionate, and happiest when he's right beside his person. He's a little shadow who loves lying at your feet, giving hugs, and cuddling. And, in true pug fashion, he LOVES food!
Xander has megaesophagus and requires a liquid/soft diet along with a raised feeding setup. We will ask his adoptive family to pursue additional testing to better understand the severity of his condition and his long-term needs.
Xander recently underwent a dental procedure and had 17 teeth extracted, making his soft/liquid diet especially important. He also has floating kneecaps (luxating patellas), which his veterinarian currently recommends managing with a joint supplement to help support his knees. He also has pinched nostrils, although his veterinarian has not observed breathing difficulties.
Together, Dottie and Xander are an incredibly loving pair. Their ideal family will appreciate Dottie's younger-dog energy, while also being prepared for Xander's medical and dietary needs. Most importantly, they're looking for a home where they can stay together and be an important part of their family's everyday life.
Dottie and Xander must be adopted together. Their combined adoption fee is $950

Please understand that submitting an application does not guarantee an interview. We simply do not have the bandwidth. We take great care in trying to match our dogs with what we believe to be the best home for their needs. Every dog is an individual and there are many factors we take into consideration, from medical to behavioral, to environment. We are sorry that some of you will be disappointed but ultimately a dog can only be adopted to one home.
We are a Michigan based rescue, and while we are open to apps from all over the US - and have adopted to many states - adopting out-of-state is a big deal for us and you MUST travel to Michigan to pick up the dog and make the adoption final. Thank you.
